For the Jews Still Waiting for their Messiah

Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, an authority on Ultra-Orthodox Judaism, has claimed that the arrival of the Jewish Messiah is imminent and that all Jews should practice Aliyah. Aliyah is the Jewish word for “going up” which means immigrating to Israel. The Rabbi has claimed that the Messiah would be arriving very soon and when asked he claimed that it would be at the end of the Sabbatical year the 29th day of Elul which falls on September 12th.

I have a message for those still waiting for the Jewish Messiah, He came over 2,000 years ago in the person of Jesus Christ. Most Jews reject this teaching claiming that their Messiah would never have been crucified, their Messiah was to come and destroy their enemies and establish his eternal kingdom. For those that believe this I would challenge you to look at the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah and then compare Jesus to those prophecies. He fulfilled every single one of the prophecies.

Now statistically the odds of even two of these events being fulfilled in one person is 1 in 10, and there are more than 300 prophecies concerning the Messiah in the Old Testament. The odds of one person fulfilling every one of those prophecies is astronomical, the number would be 84 followed by 131 zeroes, but Jesus DID fulfill every single one of the prophecies. How could that be true unless He was truly the Messiah. I urge my Jewish readers to really study the Messianic prophecies and then study the life of Jesus, you will see that He is your Messiah! I pray that your eyes are opened and that you finally see the truth.  This was God’s plan and it was prophesied in the Old Testament, and the Torah that the Messiah would come but He would be rejected and crucified by His own people. That alone should make you believe that Jesus IS the Messiah.

The Tribulation, or the Seventieth Week of Daniel

We have reached the end of the age of grace, or the church age. Jesus came to save His people, the Jews. When the Jewish people turned their backs on Him and crucified Him the gift of salvation was given to the gentiles. Anyone that is not of Jewish descent is considered a gentile. This fulfilled the prophecy given to Daniel,

“Seventy weeks[a] are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of[b] sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.
25 “Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street[c] shall be built again, and the wall,[d]
Even in troublesome times.
26 “And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”  Daniel 9:24-27

In verse 25 it states that Messiah would be cut off after 69 weeks, (a week is considered a year). The 69 weeks are finished when Jesus is rejected by His people and crucified. Since the Jews rejected their Messiah they were cut off and the gift of salvation was given to the gentiles as it was prophecied in Isaiah.

“Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—
Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
Will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says,
“Yet I will gather to him
Others besides those who are gathered to him.”

This is an interlude in the period of time where Israel will be brought back into fellowship with God. After the age of grace and the rapture there may be a short period of time before the 70th week begins. This final week will begin when the Antichrist signs a seven year peace with Israel. You have to imagine that after the rapture the world will be in chaos. Millions of people just disappeared and all the children that were not old enough to make a decision to follow Jesus. There will be horrific damage and death from cars and other vehicles crashing when their drivers disappear, planes will fall out of the sky when their pilots disappear. Most people will be missing family members or friends, people will be terrified wondering where the others went and if others will be taken too. With so many people missing you have to imagine that the stock market will crash, government will be left short staffed as well as hospitals, the police and the military. Martial law will be instituted to protect as many people as possible while the country tries to recover.  This will be much worse in countries with many Christians, but every country will lose people. The world will be looking for someone to step in and bring things back to normal… A man steps onto the world stage, the people of the earth are mesmerized by what he says, this man seems to have answers that the world desperately needs. Before long this man is pushed into taking charge of a one world government. He speaks of peace and before long he has done what no one has ever been able to do before, he has brokered a peace in the Middle East. Israel has signed a seven years peace treaty. The world will look on in wonder at what this man has done, they will think that he is the leader that the world has always been waiting for. The truth is far more frightening, this man is the Antichrist. He will come onto the world scene talking about peace, he will seem to be the answer the world has looked for. He will actually have peace for three and a half years, but then he will break the treaty and start persecuting the Jewish people.  When the peace treaty is signed, that is the beginning of the final seven year period before Jesus second coming. During this period God will send judgments down on the earth like He did in the Old Testament, the purpose of these judgments are to remind Israel that their God is real and has not forgotten them. It is a call to Israel to come back to God. God will send judgments that get progressively worse, He will send two witnesses to preach the truth in Israel, these witnesses will cause many Israelites to turn back to their God and to preach the truth and bring others to truth.

And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” They are “the two olive trees” and the two lampstands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.”[a] If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want. Revelation 11:3-6

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,
from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,
from the tribe of Gad 12,000,
from the tribe of Asher 12,000,
from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,
from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,
from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,
from the tribe of Levi 12,000,
from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,
from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,
from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,
from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.  Revelation 7:1-8

The first half of the tribulation will be bad, but the second half will be even worse. After the Antichrist breaks the treaty he will insist on being worshiped. He will institute a new program, everyone on earth will be required to have the number 666 on their right hand or forehead or they will not be allowed to buy or sell. Part of taking this mark is the worship of the Antichrist. As you take the mark you then need to walk over to the statue of the Antichrist and bow down and worship it. If you choose not to take the mark you will be immediately executed by guillotine.
Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.
18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666. Revelation 13:14-18
This will be a terrifying time to live if you are a believer. Many believers will be martyred during this time, but they will immediately be with God.
As for Israel, the Antichrist will be trying to kill the Jews any way that he can. The only way for the Jews to survive would be for them to escape Israel and run to the mountains where God will protect them. Many think the mountains that are mentioned is the rock city of Petra. Some believers have gone to Petra and buried Bibles for the Jews to use once they are in Petra.
“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a]spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.  Matthew 24:15-22
At the end of the seven years, when all seems lost, Jesus will return. All will see Him. Jesus will destroy the Antichrist’s armies and at the end of the one sided battle He will take the Antichrist and the False Prophet and throw them into the lake of fire.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is calledFaithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. 15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will [d]rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the [e]wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
17 Then I saw [f]an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying toall the birds which fly in midheaven, “Come, assemble for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of [g]commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.”
19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.

Doom of the Beast and False Prophet

20 And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs [h]in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with [i]brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh. Revelation 19:11-21

No one wants to live through these times, and the good news is, as a Christian you will not have to. You will be with Jesus, in heaven at this time. What about those that don’t believe? Well the good news is that there is still time. The age of grace is still here, you have a chance to escape the tribulation, all you need to do is accept the free gift that Jesus is giving you. You don’t need to be perfect to accept this gift, it is a free gift of salvation. Think of it as a do over. All the bad things that you have done in your life are gone, the slate has been wiped clean. There is not one sin that God does not know about, or one that He can’t forgive. All it takes is a quick prayer and you will be saved from these things. Yes, you may die before the rapture, but you will be with God at that moment and at the rapture you will receive your perfect body and live in heaven, which is too beautiful to even imagine. I want to see you there. Pray this simple prayer to join God’s family.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name I confess that I have sinned and ask for forgiveness. I ask that Jesus come into my heart and become my  Lord and Savior. I believe Jesus died for my sins and was raised from the dead.
Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Biblical Anniversaries

I am taking a small detour out of Revelation for today.  A couple of weeks ago, I was watching Grant Jeffrey on his program Bible Prophecy Revealed.  The theme of his program that day was about the Phenomenon of Biblical Anniversaries. As I watched the program, I became fascinated, and decided that I needed to write about it.

Every nation has holidays that celebrate specific events that have happened in their history. It is extremely rare for another event with the same theme to happen on the exact same day. In fact, no nation has actually had this kind of thing happen except for Israel. There have been forty major events that have happened to Israel that have happened on the same day, a Jewish holiday, and are of the same theme.

I shall begin on the tenth day of Nissan, this is the first month of the Jewish year. The theme for this day is sanctification-setting apart for a holy purpose.  The original event that began this holiday is the Passover celebration. This was during the time when the Jews were slaves in Egypt, God had sent various plagues down on Egypt, but Pharoah was unwilling to let them go and lose his slave laborers. The final plague that was sent down on Egypt was the killing of the first born, except for the Jews who had put lambs blood on their door lintels. When all Egypt’s first born were killed, they were passed over. The Jews were to celebrate this event every year.
Other events with the same theme that occurred on this same day are:

  • Israel crosses the Jordan. They are taking possession of the land that God promised them as they have been set apart to do.
  • Jesus was cut off and rejected by the Jews on Palm Sunday. This was the first time Jesus presented himself to His people as the Messiah, and they rejected Him. This marks the end of the sixty-ninth week of Daniel’s seventy weeks.
  • Ezekiel receives a vision of the Millenial Temple, where the people of Israel will be sanctified for the Lord
The next Holy day is the fourteenth day of Nissan, the Passover supper. The theme for this day is the covenant relationship of God to Israel. This day was celebrated by the Jews in preparation for the Exodus from Egypt.
Other events that occurred on this day with the same theme are:
  • God made a covenant with Abraham. Abraham was to follow God, and God would bless him and make him a mighty nation, and they would be God’s special chosen people.
  • First Passover celebration in Canaan. God restores his covenant with the people of Israel, and to show that they accepted the covenant, all Israelite men were to be circumcised.

    Genesis 17:10

    Today’s New International Version (TNIV)
10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
  • The Book of the Law found. After many years of bad kings that did not follow God, Josiah became king. He loved God and tried to follow Him. While restoring the temple, the Book of the Law was found. After reading it, Josiah cried out to God for forgiveness on the land. He read to the people from the Book, and had them renew their covenant with God.
    •  31 The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD—to follow the LORD and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book. 32 Then he had everyone in Jerusalem and Benjamin pledge themselves to it; the people of Jerusalem did this in accordance with the covenant of God, the God of their ancestors. 2 Chronicles 34:31-32
  • Dedication of the second temple. The Israelites had been taken from their land by conquest. After many years Darius of Persia allowed the Israelites to return home and rebuild their temple. Since the Israelites had been in captivity all these years, they had not been allowed to celebrate their holidays, or continue their sacrifices.
    •  19 On the fourteenth day of the first month, the exiles celebrated the Passover. 20 The priests and Levites had purified themselves and were all ceremonially clean. The Levites slaughtered the Passover lamb for all the exiles, for their relatives the priests and for themselves. 21 So the Israelites who had returned from the exile ate it, together with all who had separated themselves from the unclean practices of their Gentile neighbors in order to seek the LORD, the God of Israel. 22 For seven days they celebrated with joy the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because the LORD had filled them with joy by changing the attitude of the king of Assyria so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel. Ezra 6:19-22
  • The last supper, the covenant of Jesus to His disciples and the church. Jesus made a covenant between God and man with Jesus as the mediator.
    • 22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,“Take it; this is my body.” 23 Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.  24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” Mark 14:22-25
The fifteenth day of Nissan, the feast of Unleavened Bread. The theme is the purging out of sin. When Pharaoh freed the Israelites, they left in such a hurry that they could not wait for bread dough to rise. In remembrance of  this event no bread with yeast or levening is eaten, for which reason it is called “The Festival of Unleavened Bread”.
Other events that occurred on this day with the same theme:
  • Jesus Christ was crucified. He died on the cross and took our sins upon himself.                                    23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b]Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
  • Exodus journey begins
  • Fall of the Jewish resistance at Masada in 73AD. After two years of fighting the Roman soldiers, the wall was breached on this day. The Jews killed their families and themselves rather than be taken into captivity.
The seventeenth day of Nissan, the Feast of Firstfruits. The theme of this day is resurrection. The feast of firstfruits was celebrated to acknowledge early spring crops. It was a thanksgiving offering to God for His provision. In Christianity, this Feast is celebrated as Easter.
Other events that have occurred with the same theme:

  • Noah’s ark comes to rest of Mount Ararat. This represented a new beginning, a resurrection of the old world.
  • Israel crosses the Red Sea. This was a new beginning for Israel, they resurrected the old covenant between themselves and GodIsrael eats the first fruits of the promised land. When Israel reached the Jordan river, they sent spies into the land. The spies returned on this day, bringing with them all the bounty of the land.
    •   10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. 11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. Joshua 5:10-11
  • Christ resurrected
    • 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.                      1 Corinthians 15:20-23
The next Holy day is the sixth day of Sivan, the Feast of Pentacost.Pentecost is the Jewish harvest festival of Shauvot, which commemorates God giving the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai fifty days after the Exodus.   The theme of this day is the revelation of God’s will.
There is one other event that happened on this day with the same theme, and that is the Holy Spirit was given to the church on this day.

1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4

The next series of Holy days commemorate sad days in Israel’s history.

The seventeenth day of Tammuz is the next Holy day. The theme is the breaking of a spiritual symbol of God’s favor.
Events that have occurred on this day include:
  • Moses broke the two tablets of the law when he came down from Mt Sinai and saw the golden calf
  • Babylonians invaded Jerusalem and stopped the daily sacrifice
  • The walls of Jerusalem were breached before the destruction of the second temple
The ninth day of Av is considered the saddest day of the Jewish year. The theme is a fast of mourning. Eight disasters have happened to the Jewish people on this same day.  The odds of eight disasters with the same theme occurring on the same day are 1 in 863,000,000 x 1 billion!
  • The twelve spies that were sent to explore Canaan returned on this day. All but Joshua and Caleb brought a bad report. They said there was no way that they could defeat the peoples living in these lands, they were too strong.  The people believed the spies and began to despair, they did not have faith in God. As punishment, God decreed that not one of them would enter the promised land except for Joshua and Caleb.
  • Babylonians destroy Solomon’s Temple in 587 BC
  • Romans destroy the second temple in 70 AD
  • Romans plow Israel with salt rendering the land useless 71 AD
  • Romans destroy army of Israel 135 AD
  • England expels the Jews from her land 1290 AD
  • Spain expels the Jews from her land 1492 AD
  • World War I declared. Russia began a program to persecute the Jews, killing 100,000. 1914 AD
The first day of Tishri is the Jewish New Years day. This is the Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Ha’shanah. The theme is a memorial day of Holy convocation.
Events that have occurred on this day with the same theme:
  • The high priest brought the first offering to the rebuilt temple
  • Ezra read the law to the returned exiles
  • Future possibility, this may be the date for the Battle of Armageddon. Many Biblical scholars believe that this may be true.
The tenth day of Tishri is the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur. The theme of this day is mourning and atonement for sin.
Events that have occurred on this day:
  • Aaron, as the high priest made atonement for Israel for the first time.                                                   31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, “Cook the meat at the entrance to the tent of meeting and eat it there with the bread from the basket of ordination offerings, as I was commanded: ‘Aaron and his sons are to eat it.’ 32 Then burn up the rest of the meat and the bread. 33 Do not leave the entrance to the tent of meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed, for your ordination will last seven days. 34 What has been done today was commanded by the LORD to make atonement for you. 35 You must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and do what the LORD requires, so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded.” Leviticus 8:31-35
  • Israel saved from annihilation in the War of Yom Kippur in 1973.
    •                            The obvious reason for choosing the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur to stage a surprise attack on Israel was that on this specific holiday (unlike any other) the country comes to a complete standstill. Yom Kippur is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar; both religiously observant Jews and most of the secular majority fast, abstain from any use of fire, electricity, engines, communications, etc., and all road traffic ceases. Many soldiers also go home from military facilities for the holiday, and Israel is more vulnerable with much of its military on leave. The war coincided that year with the Muslim month of Ramadan, when many Arab Muslim soldiers also fast. Other analysts believe that the attack on Yom Kippur actually helped Israel to more easily marshal reserves from their homes and synagogues, because the nature of the holiday meant that roads and communication were largely open and this eased mobilizing and transporting the military. Wikipedia.
  • Future: Possible date when Israel shall mourn for their Messiah.  Israel will finally realize that Jesus was their Messiah, and that they have wasted all these years.                                                                      10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a] of grace and supplication. They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. 11 On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives, 13 the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives, 14 and all the rest of the clans and their wives. Zechariah 12:10-14
Fifteenth day of Tishri, the Feast of Tabernacles. Theme is the coming presence of God.

Events that occurred on this day:
  • Dedication of Solomon’s Temple

Possible birth day of Jesus Christ. Many Messianic Torah teachers believe that Jesus was actually born on this day. The apostle John uses a word at the beginning of his gospel that translates to booth or tabernacle.

John 1:14

Young’s Literal Translation (YLT)
14And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.

with Jesus birth, God came down to be with us, just like He did with Moses in the wilderness.

  • Future: Possible ushering in of Kingdom Age

As you can see from these many examples, there is no other people that have had so many events occur on the same day with the same theme. God does nothing by accident.

The End Times

We have reached the final chapter of Daniel. Daniel has received several disturbing visions throughout his life. Daniel was faithful to God even when it could have cost him his life and God blessed him even living among his enemies. This is similar to God’s blessings on Joseph when he lived among the Egyptians. God blessed Joseph and all the Israelites because he was faithful to God. Daniel rose to a similar position of authority among the Babylonians, the Medes and the Persians. Through his faithfulness God used Daniel to show His power to the rulers of the land where the Israelites had been taken in captivity. These rulers, seeing God’s power, acknowledged Him as God and passed decrees that the people must revere God. Daniel was faithful to God and God sent Daniel visions of the future. That may not seem like a reward, but God knew that Daniel was faithful and would write everything down just as he was shown.

12 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake:some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise[a] will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”
Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank. One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”

The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.[b] When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”
I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
13 “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”

In Daniel 9:24-27 he was told that there would be seventy sevens before the Jews are restored to relationship with God.

24 “Seventy ‘sevens’[c] are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish[d]transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.[e]
25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One,[f] the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.[g] The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’[h] In the middle of the ‘seven’[i] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple[j] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.[k][l]

After the 69th week there is an interlude, in this interlude we have the church age. That is the period that we are currently living in. The time period starts with the Messiah being cut off, this occurs with Jesus crucifixion about 33 AD.

This period will end with the rise of the Antichrist and his treaty with Israel for seven years. This final seven years is the final seven of the prophecy.
Daniel 12 is about this period of time, the final seven of the seventy sevens.
During this time the church has been removed at the rapture. The name Michael with the title the great prince can only mean Jesus the Messiah. When he first started His ministry, He came to His people, the Jews. Since the Jews rejected Him, the ministry went to all the others. Now, after the church has been removed, the final week is for the Jewish people to return to relationship with God, this does not mean that only Jews shall be saved at this time, but the focus of this period is the Jews. Those that turn to Jesus and stand for Him at this time will be saved, they may die a martyr but will live forever with Christ.
Daniel is told to seal up the scroll until the time of the end, when men will rush here and there to increase knowledge. The end times prophecies were not going to be fulfilled for a long time and the people would not be able to understand them. Daniel was told to seal up the prophecy until the end times when people would be able to understand them.
Two other angels appeared, one on either bank of the river, they ask when these things shall be fulfilled. Jesus swears by God that it will be a time, times and half a time, this is a week, two weeks and half a week or three and a half weeks, 1260 days or 42 months.
Daniel does not understand what was going to happen. He is told not to worry about it. The time for these things was going to be a long time away. People would continue to be good or wicked. The wicked would not understand, but the wise would understand these words.
Daniel is told that from the time that the Temple is defiled until the end will be 1260 days, or three and a half years. This is when the Antichrist breaks his covenant with the Jews and goes into the Temple and declares that he is god.
Now the verse says that blessed is he that reaches the end of 1335 days, which is 45 days after the end of the final seven. There are many conflicting opinions about what this means, but really nothing certain. We will find out one day for sure.
Daniel is then told to continue living his life, after he dies he will rest and at the end of days he will rise to receive his inheritance.

Daniel’s Vision of a Man

This chapter begins after Cyrus has signed the decree that returns the Jews to their homeland. We know that Daniel either returned with the Jews or retired from public service and remained in Babylon.  In Daniel 1:21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.  It is not made clear whether he has returned to Jerusalem or stayed in Babylon. In any case, the signing of the decree was not the end of Daniel’s visions.

10 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar). Its message was true and it concerned a great war.[a]The understanding of the message came to him in a vision.

At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris, I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves. So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless. Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.
10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.
12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.”
15 While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless. 16 Then one who looked like a man[b] touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak. 17 How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”
18 Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength. 19 “Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.”
When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”
20 So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; 21 but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince.

In the third year that Cyrus ruled, probably around 534-533 B.C. Daniel receives a vision of a great war and the meaning is also shown to him. At the time, Daniel had been in mourning and fasting from meat and wine or pampering his body. It is not clear why Daniel is mourning, it could be that he was soul sad because of his previous visions and all they stood for. It could be because though the Jews had been given permission to return to their land, their were probably issues from the Babylonians and from the other people that had been settled in the land by Nebuchadnezzar.
On the 24th day of Nisan or Aviv, the first month of the Jewish calendar, in our calendar this usually falls around March or April. Daniel was standing on the banks of the Tigris river, he sees a man dressed in linen and gold. Daniel describes his face like lightning and his eyes like flaming torches, his arms of bronze and his voice sounding like a multitude of voices. We can assume that this man was the angel Gabriel.
Daniel must have been with other people, but he is the only one that sees the man. The others felt terror and ran and hid, so Daniel was left alone. Daniel lost all strength and felt helpless before the angel, as Gabriel spoke to him, Daniel fell into a deep sleep. Gabriel touched Daniel and told him that he has been sent to Daniel. He tells Daniel not to be afraid, that he had been sent to respond to Daniel’s prayers. Gabriel tells Daniel that he had been detained by the Prince of Persia for twenty-one days until Michael came to help him. He was not delayed by a physical person.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Ephesians 6:12
Now Gabriel tells Daniel that he has come to tell him what will happen to his people in the future. Daniel bows to the ground in anguish because of the vision, after Gabriel touches Daniel’s lips, Daniel explains that he has no strength and can barely breathe.  Gabriel speaks and tells Daniel to be strong and Daniel is strengthened.  He then tells Daniel that he will soon return to fight against the Prince of Persia, and when he leaves the Prince of Greece will come. Before he goes he will tell Daniel what is written in the Book of Truth. He also says that no one supports him against these Princes except Michael, your prince. Michael is seen as the guardian angel of the Jewish people and therefore would aid Gabriel in fighting for them.
